A Lil Spin Around Saigon

The Vietnamese call a moped “Honda” and mortorcycle “Moto”. So be sure you’re clear with the terminology when you go to rent one.

Fortunately for me, my newly discovered relative Anh Nghia, owns a bunch of them and was able to loan me one to go around Saigon and the Cuchi Tunnels.

You haven’t lived until you’ve ridden a Honda in Saigon traffic.

Be sure to bring your Go-Pro! There are tons of sights to be visit and take in.

Although there are precious few traffic lights and bustling intersections, they have a perfected a method to their madness. Don’t over-react when riding in this madness, and put your trust in their controlled, whereby thousands of mopeds, cars and pedestrians hurl themselves simultaneously into the same intersection, and effortlessly weave past one another without incident, or nary a beeping horn.

The term road rage doesn’t exist here. Everyone’s got a self-avoidance mechanism, called awareness, they use to prevent crashing into one another.

Just relax, go with the flow, and enjoy the unique experience!
Cám ơn Nghia rất nhiều!

Great courage of Ho Chi Minh city,Thong! I can vividly remember the shops, the roundabouts as I watched the video. I miss this place! Doniya looks happy and must have enjoyed the ride tremendously. Thank you for sharing. I noticed a Muaythai singlet on you at the end of the video! Cool!

    1. Thanks Morna. Many well-meaning folks conspired to get the locals to not rent me a Honda. Well they hadn’t heard of No Give Up. 😀

    1. So much fun Youssef! We will have to do SE Asia together. Nothing beats a training vacation! 😀
