Khmer Court Dancers of Siem Reap, Cambodia

Was privileged to attend an incredible Buffet, Dinner Dance show at Koulen Restaurant in Siem Reap. Highly recommend for anyone wishing to see Khmer Court dancers in full traditional costumes.

These exquisitely beautiful and delicate dancers tell stories with their well trained hands symbolizing fruits, flowers and leaves. The orchestra plays traditional music with original instruments.

The food was a good mix of Western, Cambodian cuisine and a smattering of SE Asian favorites sprinkled in. Everything was excellent and smoothly run for the incredibly low price of $12 per person with children at half price. Do make reservations as this sells out quickly.

Also met a delightful guest named Ashwin from the Bay area who decided to travel to SE Asia to dance Salsa, visit Temples and telecommute to this office.  He wanted to show us his posh 5-Star Hotel that is normally $137 per night which he’d gotten for $30 per night since it’s now rainy season. Ashwin has a particular “Joie de vivre” which I greatly appreciate in travelers, and we’ll surely be partying again in the future as he enjoys all the countries I like to explore. Especially, now that he doesn’t think I’m too old to keep up with him! 🙂

Aukun Jann for sharing your awsome experiences Thong! The Khmer dancers are wonderful. Their precise and beautiful movements also give people an idea of the story who don’t speak Cambodian. Doniya is a sunshine! Ashwin is dancing very well and has good vibes! Always love to see you dancing! You move controled but absolutely free! Salsa rocks!

    1. Danke Youssef. Indeed, beautifully dancing inspires and tells stories. These dancers are lovely on so many levels.

Doniya is a delightful, and very special child. She made our trip with her purity and innocence.

Ashwin is a beautiful open spirit. What he lacks in experience, he more than makes up for in passion. He as you, will become a fantastic dancer!
