Amazing to see such a big man flow so smooth. At 6’3″ and 261 pounds Josh Barnett trains with one of my coaches, Erik Paulson. Erik is the first American to win the World Light-Heavy Weight Shooto title in Japan. Erik has trained with 40 different instructors in his 40 years in the martial arts including legendary instructor Dan Inosanto who calls Erik one of the worlds most dynamic instructors. The techniques in this video are among some of my favorite “grappling” techniques from side and top control.

Thank you Thong for sharing this excellent video of Josh Barnett with us! it’s very beautiful how he flows from one move to another.
It is indeed, Roy. Josh is incredibly agile for his size. Goes to show good training yields good results.
Thank you very much Mr. Kardian for sharing this terrific clip of Mr. Josh Barnett. Amazing to watch him flow from one submission hold to the next.
My pleasure Kevin and thank you for watching.
Congrats to Josh, and Erik! Respects to Ryron for taking the match on 4 days notice and giving a valiant effort.

This was a win-win for me. I started training with the Gracie family in the early 90’s and in 1999/ 2000 I contacted Erik Paulson I had been following him for a few years and I liked what I saw. I believed that his style of grappling and striking would be a great addition to my BJJ training and I was not disappointed. Not only one of the most talented grapplers but a great guy, as well. Erik has a photographic memory and is deeply religious. I would highly recommend him to anyone at any level!
Thanks for the recommendation Brother. I know you to be a discerning man of skills, so if you can vouch for Erik, it’s good enough for me.
I too, have enjoyed following him over the years, not only for his prodigious skills but for his emphasis on respect and courtesy.
This is one of my favorite clips of his. An obvious man of deep integrity, ethics, and skills.

Thank you Mr. Steven Kardian for sharing this post and video of Mr. Josh Barnett with us. He moves very smoothly. Thank you Thong for sharing the addition video with us.
Smooth mastery right there and good work on the part of both men illustrating how to work together to build skill and show case the method. Good to see in a largely competitive world. Thanks for the great article and for sharing the clip.
